“Playing Ledger’s Part Is a Painful Honor” - Colin Farrell

Heath LedgerColin Farrell has confirmed he’ll be among the stars acting out scenes tragic Heath Ledger never got to shoot in his final film, confessing it’ll be an “incredibly painful tribute.” The Irish actor, Jude Law and Johnny Depp will help director Terry Gilliam complete the film he started with the late Ledger.

The superstar trio will pick up the role Ledger was playing in The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus before he accidentally overdosed on prescription drugs last month. And Farrell admits he was flattered to be asked to help Gilliam complete Ledger’s last film. He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph newspaper, “I will be honored to be part of that. It makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it too much and to get into it really here, but it’s an incredibly painful honor… and an honor I wish wasn’t bestowed (on me), but an honor none-the-less. It’s about getting Heath’s work out there… He’s too good for any of his work not to be seen, you know, and I’m really keen and looking forward to doing it and just doing the best job I can do.”

The film, about a magical traveling theatre, also features movie veteran Christopher Plummer. Production on the London set has been suspended since just before Ledger’s death.

Exorcism of Emily Rose

Emily RoseWe saw this movie last night and it was a really good movie. It is based on the true story of Anneliese Michel, a young German woman who suffered the same fate as the fictional Emily Rose in the 1970s.

The original inspiration for the movie was a book titled “The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel” by Dr. Felicitas Goodman. She was the anthropologist called in as an expert on possession. This movie might make a believer out of you.

This movie gets 7 ‘missing teeth’ out of 10.

Bruce McLaren - The Movie

Trivia about The Departed :

Jack Nicholson’s Frank Costello is partly based on notorious South Boston gangster Whitey Bulger.

Denis Leary was offered the role of Dignam in this film, but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts with his television show, “Rescue Me” (2004).

Martin Scorsese sent the script to Mel Gibson, offering him an unspecified role. Gibson thought the script was fantastic, but was unable to accept the part because he was starting production on Apocalypto at the time.

As research for his character’s occupation, Matt Damon worked with a Massachusetts State Police unit out of Boston. He accompanied them on routine patrols, participated in a drug raid and was taught proper police procedures like how to pat down a suspect.

Originally, Jack Nicholson turned down his role in the movie, but after a meeting with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, he was finally convinced to play the role of Frank Costello.

Leonardo DiCaprio was cast in the title role in The Good Shepherd (2006), but he dropped out to play Billy Costigan in this movie. Matt Damon then took the role.

Originally Brad Pitt was cast as Colin Sullivan, but later dropped out. He continued to produce the film under his (and his then wife Jennifer Aniston’s) production company, Plan B.

Vijay Amritraj to the rescue

Vijay Amritraj in OctopussyVijay Amritraj plays Bond’s ally in the movie Octopussy. As Bond arrives in India, Bond recognises Vijay as his contact when he hears him playing ‘The James Bond Theme’ on his flute whilst charming a snake.
A useful field agent, Vijay accompanies Bond on various missions in the early part of the film. He provides the getaway car for the exciting taxi chase through the streets of Delhi in the Tuk-Tuk Taxi. Vijay later keeps watch as Bond travels to meet Octopussy on her island, but is tragically killed by Gobinda and the Yo-Yo Thug.

His name really IS Bond

Daniel CraigWatched Casino Royale last night and I was pleasantly surprised. Daniel Craig is a kind of Bond we have never seen before and it could be a welcome change. He looks like he can take a beating, he is very implusive and he is vulnerable. Good movie…its a must-see and Daniel Craig is a believable bond.

The Pursuit of Happyness

The Pursuit for HappynessThis movie was really tough to watch. Don’t ask me why, Let’s not get into that. Great movie and being a Will Smith fan, I am glad he hung up his guns for this movie. He is perfect for this role.

Did you know that?

- Speedcubing champions Tyson Mao and Toby Mao were hired to teach Will Smith how to solve a Rubik’s Cube.

- The real Chris Gardner is seen walking past Will Smith and his son at the end of the movie, as Christopher, the son, is telling “knock-Knock” jokes.

- Actual homeless people were used in the film, and paid as extras.

A geek and his money are soon parted

Star Wars DVDRemember the time when you saw a movie, you liked it and you went out and bought the dvd? Well, nowadays there are so many versions coming out that you dont want to look silly buying a movie only to find out there is another newer (or older), better version that is out. For example, remember Sin City? Well, they released the movie on DVD in August and by September, they were advertising a Recut, Extended, Unrated version.

George Lucas (of Star Wars fame) released the original Star Wars Trilogy as a DVD set when he came out with the first prequel. Then he launched the touched up versions of the original movies. Then he released all 6 movies, news one untouched and old ones touched up. Now, he has released the old verion and touched up versions of the old movies together as a DVD set. When will this stop? Amazon has listed all these dvds here

BTW, I still have not bought the Lord of the Rings DVD set. I am waiting for Peter Jackson to make up his mind and release the ‘ULTIMATE VERSION’. So far, we have seen the ‘normal versions‘, ‘Special Extended DVD Editions‘, ‘Widescreen editions‘, ‘Platinum Series Special Extended Edition‘ and the ‘Theatrical and Extended Limited Editions‘ of the LOTR movies.
